Desktop as a Service is the provisioning of virtual, cloud hosted, desktops.  The provider provides the storage, backup, performance, maintenance, security, and upgrades of the desktop infrastructure as a service.  Desktop images, applications, and desktop security can either also be provided and managed by the service provider, as part of the subscription, or can be provided by the customer.



Desktop as a Service keeps desktop costs to a monthly charge, and lets the customer avoid purchasing physical desktops, or physical servers to provision the virtual desktop infrastructure / VDI.

Desktop as a Service can provide improved security, easier disaster recovery, more straightforward software updates, easier software updates, and simpler provisioning processes.
